|Argentine Dance Group to Present Tango and Live Music at DeSales, Oct. 8 and 9
The sights and sounds of Argentine tango will fill the air Wednesday and Thursday, October 8 and 9, at DeSales, as members of the Eduardo Tami Tango Group from Buenos Aires, Argentina, present tango and live music from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, in McShea Student Union, as part of the Wednesday in the Commons series. From 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, they will offer tango lessons, also in the McShea Student Union. Both events are open to the public free of charge.
On Friday, October 10, members of the Eduardo Tami Tango Group will discuss tango and politics, and share meals with students in advance Spanish courses. The visit by the Eduardo Tami Tango Group coincides with the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Sponsors of the visit by the Tami Tango Group are the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges, the Hispanic Organization of Latinos and Amigos - Air Products & Chemicals, The DeSales Dance Program, and Spanish classes in the DeSales Department of Humanities.
Eduardo O. Tami, a well known flute player in Buenos Aires, created the Eduardo Tami Tango Group in April 2005. The group has toured North America five times and visited more than 30 universities. Tami also serves as editor of Committee of Music magazine in Columbia. Other members of the group are Alejandro Javier Bordas, Claudia Marciano, Ramon Saganias, and Juan Manuel Santisteban.
