Bernie McGovern Scholarship Day will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, in Billera Hall. DeSales will be hosting Messiah's women's basketball team, and the Elizabethtown men's team for a doubleheader beginning at 1p.m. The games will be dedicated to the memory of Bernie McGovern, with all proceeds going to the Bernie McGovern Scholarship Fund.
A long-time employee of DeSales, McGovern passed away in July 2007. He worked as the facilities supervisor for the Center Valley Campus for 17 years and was an integral part of the University community, widely respected by students, faculty, staff and parents. He was the loving father of five DeSales University alumni.
Donations to the Bernie McGovern Scholarship Fund can be made during halftime of both games on Saturday. Representatives of the DeSales Athletic Department will be at the stairways as you exit the gym.
