RESNET is designed to provide students who live in the University's residence halls a high-speed connection to the Internet from their dormitory room using their own computing systems.
RESNET will provide students a pathway to a variety of resources locally (on-campus information servers) and remote services /resources, through the University's high-speed Internet connection. To access this high-speed connection a student must purchase and correctly install a Network Interface Card (NIC), sometimes called an ethernet adapter. Students who want to use the University's RESNET network will connect their computer to the network and will be prompted to register their computer at that time with their University email username and password.
The University's Network Support Staff is available to assist in the correct installation and configure the NIC. Students should use one of the models listed on the "supported" list of recommended system. The University's Network Support Staff does not guarantee support for any models not on the supported list. The Network Support Staff is limited to one and a half hours for configuration of any PC to communicate with the RESNET network. Students are responsible for purchasing and installing Ethernet adapters and patch cords if needed.
A student will electronically sign a "RESNET Acceptable Use Policy" statement each year and will be kept on file with the University's Network Support Staff. Arrangements for help with connecting your computer through RESNET contact the Helpdesk at 610-282-1100 Ext 4357 or Email: helpdesk@desales.edu.
