Mission Statement
To let DeSales students volunteer to serve DeSales and the surrounding community in accordance with Lions Clubs International.
Meetings
The Lions Club meets the second and fourth Monday of every month in the Kender Conference room in the McShea Student Center. All meetings are open to students and faculty.
History/General Information
The Lions Club began in 1917 by Melvin Jones. Mr. Jones wanted local business clubs to help their local communities and the world at large. Today Lions Clubs International includes 1.3 million people in 45,000 clubs in 200 countries. The Lions are best known for helping the blind and visually impaired. This came about when Helen Keller asked the Lions to be Knights of the Blind. The Lions motto is “we serve.” Every dollar the Lions Club raises through fundraisers goes right back into the community.
If any student would like to come out and volunteer with us, please contact jaime.gerhart@desales.edu.
