(June 3, 2009) -- Dr. David Gilfoil, assistant professor of business at DeSales University and formerly managing director and president of Agere Japan in Tokyo, has been named director of the DeSales University MBA Program. His appointment, effective July 1, 2009, was announced by Dr. Karen Walton, provost and vice president for academic affairs at DeSales. Dr. Gilfoil succeeds Dr. Mohamed Latib, formerly vice president for program and strategic development and director of the MBA Program, who plans to return to teaching in the DeSales Business Department full-time.
Gilfoil has extensive business and administrative experience on a global level. Prior to joining the DeSales faculty as assistant professor of business in 2007, he served in Tokyo as managing director and president of Agere Japan, and led several global corporate restructuring spin-off, merger, and acquisition teams at Agere, Lucent, and AT&T.
He also served as director of global sales planning & operations for Agere and as director of sales planning and director of customer satisfaction & quality for Lucent Microelectronics. His positions at AT&T Network Systems included senior information systems engineer and business planning manager.
In addition, Gilfoil served as manager of global marketing applications for Mnemos Inc. and manager of corporate ergonomics for Exxon Office Systems, both in Princeton, N.J.
His areas of expertise include sales strategy, strategic account planning, global cultural diversity, quality management, sales governance, business process improvement, customer satisfaction, global sales operations, and performance management. He excels in analyzing, preparing and communicating complex information to global and diverse populations in industry and academia.
Gilfoil earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a master’s degree in experimental and cognitive psychology from the College of William & Mary, and a doctorate in management science from Stevens Institute of Technology. He currently resides in Easton.
