About the Company
The Word Among Us is a theatre company comprised of facutly, staff, and alumni from DeSales University who share a concern for advancing the mission of the Salesian Center for Faith & Culture via the arts. This company contributes to the work of Catholic evangelization in the spirit of Christian Humanism through its unique combination of theatrical talent and theological teaching.
Performances can be tailored to suit the needs of the audience. Each performance by the company offers
- ♦ "setting the stage" ... with an introduction to the historiacl and theatrical context of the play (5-10 minutes)
- ♦ "dramatic reading" ... that consists of a performance of the play in the style of the "theatre of the word" (60-75 minutes)
- ♦ "talk-back" ... through a discussion with the company about the meaning & significance of the play (20-30 minutes)

Casting is done in view of the timing of each performance. Usually, members of the cast are alumni and/or faculty from the Dept. of Performing & Fine Arts at DeSales University.
