(September 2009) – The ACCESS program at DeSales University, the region’s premier adult education program, is proud to present Tuesdays with ACCESS. New as of the 2009 to 2010 academic year, Tuesdays with ACCESS will feature four different series, each consisting of four complimentary sessions, which will focus on key topics of interest for those entering or re-entering the job market.
Sessions are open to the public free of charge, but registration is required. Those interested can register for an entire series or individual sessions. The first series in Tuesdays with ACCESS is “Career Makeover,” to be offered during four sessions in September and October. All sessions will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the DeSales University Center, unless otherwise noted. The sessions include:
On September 15, a presentation on how to improve interview skills by Meloney Sallie-Dosunmu, manager of organizational effectiveness and talent at Just Born, Inc., Bethlehem, who will lead the interactive session.
On September 22, how to write a resume, cover letter and thank you letter by Kate Hunter, director of career services at DeSales. Hunter will share detailed explanations of how to adjust these documents to reflect professionalism and positivity.
On September 29 in the Priscilla Payne Hurd Science Center Auditorium, a presentation on the untapped job market resources by Marna Hayden, president of Hayden Resources, Inc., Nazareth. This session aims to help attendees develop an appropriate career plan based on values, interests and talents.
On October 6, the series concludes with a presentation on networking and communication by Roberta Borgman, of Good Shepherd, Allentown. Borgman will provide helpful tips on how to expand and make use of resources during the job hunt process.
