A showcase and celebration of the promising young choreographers among our dance majors, the Emerging Choreographers Concert is an entirely student-run concert featuring student dancers, designers, and technicians.
"One of the great qualities about our Dance program is that the students get training as performers, dance teachers, and choreographers,” says John Bell, Chair of the Performing and Fine Arts department. “And it is in this last arena—as choreographers—that our students always surprise. Their work is innovative, provocative, and often ingenious. This concert allows them to express themselves as dance artists in ways that seems to unleash the best of their creative personalities.”
The program, presented in Bethlehem’s intimate Ice House performance space, features six world premier dances exploring themes such inner strength, transformation, and hope. The program opens with Christine Michener’s Portrait of Perception set to music by Vivaldi followed by Lora Allen’s Chance Our Trust, Madeleine Cummings Liberated from Fear, Alyson Jacques’ Comes to Pass, a new work by Sara Link, and Heather Fleischman’s Burning Indifference.
