DeSales University students will take part in two campus events, in order to raise awareness on the plight of the homeless. The activities are being held in observance of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
The “Faces of Homelessness Panel” will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, in the commons area of McShea Student Center. Homeless people from the general community will serve as panelists and will share their stories with students. The program is part of DeSales University’s Wednesday in the Commons series of cultural events.
“Night Out” will take place from 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19, to 7:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, in front of the Trexler Library. Students will spend the night outside in solidarity with those without a home. A $10.00 donation is recommended to participate. All proceeds will be donated to Oxfam International, a group of non-governmental organizations from three continents working worldwide to fight poverty and injustice.
For more information on these events, please contact Jaime Gerhart, director of the Center for Service and Social Justice, at 610-282-1100, ext. 1889, or e-mail jaime.gerhart@desales.edu
